MISSION STATEMENT
The focus of this position is to introduce women of the Nisga’a Nation to possible career opportunities in the mineral resource industry of northern British Columbia. Its purpose is to overcome barriers and uncertainties women may have by allowing candidates to experience firsthand the employment opportunities available to women on a mining or exploration site.
OVERVIEW OF COMPANY
Castle Resources is a Toronto-based junior mineral development company focused on the redevelopment of the 100% owned past producing Granduc Copper Mine in Stewart BC. The company has a field office in Stewart, British Columbia as well as the Granduc portal site 40 km north of Stewart and a remote exploration camp 17 km west of Granduc portal site. JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a job shadow 3 day position for women interested in obtaining employment or training for a position in the mining industry. Candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Logistics Manager, Marianne Hirsche. Candidate will assist and shadow the Logistics Manager and be introduced to the many positions and roles filled by women in the industry.
Qualifications:
The candidate must be at least 18 years of age with an interest in geology, camp services, or mining. She must be comfortable with flying and have an interest in camping and outdoor living.
The three day program will include:
Day 1 – Travel to Stewart Office, Project Overview and Field Administration Duties, Meet Industry Contractors, such as drilling and helicopter companies
Day 2 – Portal Camp via Granduc Road
- Area Overview
- Mining Safety and First Aid, Food and Camp Services
Day 3 – Leduc Camp via helicopter
- Exploration Overview
- Geological Work, Core Shack, Drilling
- Safety and First Aid, Food and Camp Services
The candidate will have the opportunity to stay overnight at either Leduc or Granduc portal camp to experience a remote location work life. The program may be altered by weather or unforeseen circumstances at any time. This program does not guarantee employment or training to the candidate, but is designed to introduce possible employment opportunities available in northern British Columbia.
